About Me

About The Writer’s Wife:

Hi! I’m Katie. Welcome to my blog! I’m a 25 year old wife and mother. I don’t have too many hobbies, other than reading. What I most enjoy is spending time with my family. This blog is meant to capture events in our lives. From the normal day to day family life to working toward our goals and dreams, I want this blog to show our journey as a family.

About The Writer:

Edison and I actually met over the internet. We started talking on November 7, 2009, and became fast friends. We met in person shortly after that at a local McDonald’s. Our friendship grew over our love of books. We could discuss books for hours. I was also very interested in the book Edison was writing, and he began sending me chapters after he was finished writing them. I would read the chapters and give feedback – let him know what I felt worked and didn’t work, and my suggestions for improvement. I really think bonding over his book is really where our friendship got stronger. Over a strange marathon of Saw movies and a trip to a local haunted house, Edison and I began dating on October 18, 2010. On December 2, 2011, Edison asked me to marry him. Obviously, I must have said yes (after a long pause and a “are you serious?”) and we were married on April 22, 2012 in front of a small group of our closest family and friends. Our friendship now is stronger than ever, and I consider Edison to be my best friend. Together, we have many goals and dreams for the future, and I can’t wait to share our journey on this blog.

About Our Little Guy:

Matthew is a happy, healthy, and energetic seven-year-old. He was born on August 20, 2006 at only 24 weeks gestation. He only weighed 1 pound 8 ounces at birth, and he stayed in the NICU for 4 very long months. He has overcome many severe health problems and developmental issues. Years of visits with doctors, specialists, surgeons, and therapists (developmental, occupational, and speech) have given Matthew the tools and ability to lead a fun, happy, and healthy life. I’m so proud to say that our little guy went from this:

To this:

Matthew loves to listen to us read him books, he loves Blue’s Clues and Thomas the Train, and he loves Nightmare Before Christmas (the movie). He’s a very sweet little boy, but very opinionated and stubborn at times. He’s come such a long way from his extremely early beginning in life, and has surprisingly little in his life that reflects his difficult start. He is a special needs child; he has sensory processing disorder, communication disorder, autism, and global developmental delays. But all in all, he is able to lead a happy, healthy life and we are so proud of how hard he has worked and how many accomplishments he has made. He’s an amazing little boy.

About Our Newest Little Guy:

Alexander Gabriel Crux
13 days old

Alexander Gabriel Crux was born on May 6, 2013 weighing in at 6 pounds 12 ounces and 19.5 inches long. I had a healthy, full term pregnancy, and he was born just 5 days before his due date. Edison and I are very proud parents, and Matthew is loving being a big brother. Right now, Alex is enjoying learning about the world around him. He loves to listen to stories and watch his big brother play. It’s pretty amazing to have the experience of a newborn that is healthy. It’s extremely different this time around!

So, now that you have some background info, welcome to our family life!
